I don't write about weddings anymore in my BLOG but had to make an exception on this occasion. Firstly too explain why there are so many images... Susie and Jim and going on honeymoon on the 19th October. Nothing unusual their except their wedding was on the 17th October and they are going away for a a whole year! That is my type of honeymoon... As their first point of call is South America they may not get an opportunity to see them for a while if not today.
Their wedding also deserves to be written about as they did a lot of really cool things that I have not come across before. The first being everyone singing at the end of the ceremony (an Andy Williams song I think) which really set the tone for the day and got the party started in style. This was especially so as one of the guests had bought along a trumpet to play along with. It was a stroke of genius in my opinion. Immediately after the ceremony the cake was cut for everyone to enjoy as canapes along with bowls of sweets.
During the family photos the best man pulled out a mega-phone. Again this worked amazingly well and got no end of laughs which was perfect for me.
During the wedding breakfast a hat was passed around called the "Down in One" hat. If you got given it you had to down your drink. This may sound a little yobish but with this crowd of professionals it was perfect. Again keeping the spirit of the day alive.
Each speech was announced with a different musical instrument creating a buzz of excitement. During the evening funny hats were distributed for guests to wear which went down very well.
What this wedding emphasized to me is that (although this was in a grand venue) weddings are really about the couple and guests. They are what makes a great wedding.
I will be putting a slideshow online for Susie and Jim to see their photos - if you would like to see it then please email me at david @ dpearce.co.uk (leaving out the gaps!) and I will let you know when it is ready.
