One for the many photographers who read my BLOG...

My good friend and possibly the best and most acclaimed speaker in the world on wedding and portrait photography is coming to England, Ireland and Scotland in April. His name is David Williams and I guess that most of you will be more than familiar with him.

I have been on two of David's courses and have to say they transformed me and my work. The tuition pushed my abilities up many levels and left coming away with my brain swirling with all my new found information. The funny thing is that there is so much to take in that many like me come back to be a repeat offender.

What is so special about the course? It is hard to explain unless you have been on one. There is no equipment idolization as it is not about the gear but all about you and how you use it. David talks about the philosophy of what we do, why, how and the underlying importance of it. He will show you amazing demonstrations on how to make almost any space into a make shift studio and only using natural light or one single flash gun. He will detail how to interact with people and kids to get the best results (this is an amazing part of the course).

He will teach you about album design and what not to do. He will maybe take you to a church and show you how to shoot there to give you images that no of your competitors will. He will teach some really simple but highly effective flash techniques that you wish you had know all your career.

This is photography with soul, integrity and passion. This is a man who commands standing ovations for his talks globally. This is the man that has transformed literally 100's of photographers with his down to earth, no BS approach.

I think Scotland maybe only has one or two left. It is also the best value course out there. It is 1/3rd the investment of other speakers of equal stature.

Family shoot in the studio

Last Monday I had a lovely family portrait session in the studio with 3 generations making it a real family affair. I was a little apprehensive that all 7 would not fit into the space but fortunately the studio is plenty big enough so it was not an issue at all.

Pauline and her family came back to see their images projected to my large screen from which they could choose their favourite images. I am pleased to say that they took all of them as it was too difficult to narrow down!

Sam and James

Last Friday I took the photos of Sam and James's wedding at the Archbishops Palace followed by drink at the Bromley Court Hotel before they left for dinner at Chapter One. We just about missed the snow during the day but by the early evening there was a heavy blizzard which made driving a little interesting.

I thought the wedding was interesting as James chose the dress for Sam which I think is a first for a wedding that I have covered. Here are a few preview photos for you..

Ellen - child portraiture in the snow...

There is nothing finer than taking kids portraits in their own environment where they are relaxed and comfortable being photographed. The images have a sense of place which will trigger memories later in life which is so important.

With the worst weather in 20 years or so in England I could not resist getting a shoot in. I could not drive anywhere so had to wait until Ellen had finished school to take these and just love the results! What better way is there than having a professional photographer create wonderful images of your children? It is simply not possible to do it yourself and need not be expensive. 

Although we are a boutique studio, our pricing is far more realistic than a certain national chain of studios which can be frightening. We rely on you coming back to us once or twice a year to have your family images taken, enabling you to document the growing of your children and their constantly changing appearance.
